Check In/Line-up Begins:  8:00 AM – East Side of Early Co. High School (New Gym)

Check In/Line-up Ends: 9:30 AM – Parade begins moving @ 9:50 AM – exits west side of the school.

Parade Regulations and Guidelines

Please make sure that you review and follow the guidelines below.  Our hope is to have a safe, smooth-running parade that is a family-friendly event.

  1. Each entry must submit an official parade form and sign a liability waiver. If you submit online, you will sign the liability waiver at check-in.  One parade entry per form.
  2. All entries must be decorated with a peanut or parade theme with clearly printed, neat signage. (“Decorated” does not apply to farm equipment, antique & specialty cars, or cars for officials & beauty queens.  However, signage is required.)
  3. The parade must move AT ALL TIMES. Unless a vehicle is stopped in front of you, DO NOT STOP MOVING.  This includes bands, twirlers, walkers, etc.  Bands must perform/play as they walk.  Twirlers and dancers will not be allowed to stop and perform.
  4. No walkers under the age of 12. They may ride a float/vehicle.  Our parade route is 2 ½ miles long, and it is hard for children to keep up.  More importantly, we want to keep them safe.
  5. No one will dismount a float or vehicle, nor will a walking group disband before the parade is over. The parade must continue down College Street and does not end until you reach the Methodist Church.  Transportation provisions will be made for any elderly or disabled riders at the Methodist Church. It is a safety hazard to unload or disband along the parade route.  Law enforcement will assist in enforcing this rule.  Those who violate this rule will not be asked to participate in future parades.
  6. All riders must be sitting or be stationary with handrails. Parade officials will stop any float that appears to have safety concerns.
  7. Floats must be limited to a maximum height of 13 feet and a length of 44 feet. A farm-type pin hitch is suggested for floats longer than 15 feet.  All drivers must have a valid driver’s license.
  8. All drivers’ compartments must be properly ventilated to prevent the accumulation of exhaust/carbon monoxide and must allow for easy and immediate exit.
  9. Smoking on a parade float or from a parade entry is prohibited.
  10. All riders under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
  11. 6 to 8 riders will be allowed on smaller floats. Larger floats can carry more riders, but the parade committee reserves the right to remove riders before the parade if the entry appears overloaded.
  12. Float riders must be seated at least 4 inches away from the edge of the float at all times. No legs, arms, etc. will be allowed to hang over the side of the float.
  13. No solicitation of funds is allowed at any point of the parade route.
  14. Candy, peanuts, beads, etc. given to the crowd is permitted. However, we PREFER that you provide walkers beside your float to hand it out (No walkers under 12 years old). When candy is thrown from a float, it is a safety hazard as kids run towards moving vehicles.
  15. All motorcycles and ATVs must remain in their section of the parade. Tire burning, fast driving, and moving past other entries is prohibited.
  16. Any entries that play music must keep the volume at a comfortable level for spectators.
  17. No vulgar language or dancing is allowed. This is a family-friendly event.
  18. All parade participants must be dressed tastefully and appropriately and be courteous at all times. No foul language or crude conduct will be tolerated. Any participants who do not follow this rule will not be allowed to participate again.

We want the parade to be a fun event; however, safety is our top priority!  Parade entries will be approved at the discretion of the Peanut Proud Festival Committee.  Parade officials will be standing along the parade route, and we reserve the right to remove any entry, at any point in the parade, that is being unsafe or inappropriate.  The Peanut Proud Parade Committee will make all final decisions regarding the placement of entries and any rules.
